POSITION DETAILS

 

This position will report directly to the Exploration Manager and be located in our Pittsburgh office. Primary responsibility of the position entails development geology, property management and generation of drilling proposals for the eastern division of Penn Virginia’s subsidiary, Penn Virginia Oil & Gas Corporation.

                                      

Qualifications

           

·         Bachelor’s degree in Geology required.

·         Master’s degree in Geology a plus.

·         Minimum of 5 years’ experience in oil and gas industry, preferably with a major or large independent producer, required. 

·         Must possess strong skill set for application to oil and gas development and exploration, including log analysis, contouring, creation of cross sections and subsurface mapping techniques.

·         Familiarity with engineering and land functions in order to be able to work in a multi-disciplined team environment

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills

·         Proficient in Geologic Mapping software and with Microsoft Office products

·         Proven organization and analytical skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

·         Work with geotechnical personnel for the purpose of enhancing prospect generation and acreage evaluation by assembling, cataloging and maintaining geologic database.

·         Collect and analyze geological data to systematically evaluate and map assigned areas.

·         Monitor competitive development activities and report pertinent findings to management.

·         Propose drilling and work-over candidates over assigned field.

·         Generate prospects and exploratory concepts within assigned areas. 

·         Provide geological support at well sites during drilling operations, well logging and coring activities, as needed.

·         Prepare and present periodic management reports.
